MyDeal offers sellers the flexibility to configure combined shipping rules so that customers can benefit from cheaper shipping costs when combining items into a single package.
Offering combined shipping can encourage customers to add more of your products to their purchase. By setting up combined shipping rules you can automatically apply a discount to the shipping cost when a buyer purchases multiple items that can be combined in a single package from your store.
MyDeal allows sellers to choose from the following list of combined shipping rules, explained in more detail later in this article.
- Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and offer free shipping for additional items in the order
- Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and add a flat rate for additional items
- Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and offer a discount on the shipping rate of additional items
Note: Combined shipping is supported for all integration types except for Magento 1 & 2, Channel Engine, Comestri, and IntelligentReach.
Enable Combined Shipping
Combined shipping can be enabled from MyAccount→Shipping Settings→Combined Shipping
Combined shipping will be turned off by default unless you choose to turn it on. Combined shipping can be turned on by selecting the yes radio button on the combined shipping settings page.
Setting up combined shipping rules
Once combined shipping has been enabled, there are 3 rules available to be selected.
Rule 1: Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and offer free shipping for additional items in the order
-
- If you choose this option, the system will compare the shipping costs of each item in a combined order and charge the highest shipping rate as the shipping rate of the order.
- Example 1:
-
Product Name Shipping Rate Product A
$15.00
Product B $9.00 Product C $9.00 - Total shipping: $35.00
- Total combined shipping: $15.00
-
- Example 2 :
-
Product Name
Shipping Rate Product A $8.95 Product B $6.95 Product C $7.95 - Total shipping: $23.85
- Total combined shipping: $8.85
Rule 2: Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and add a flat rate for additional items
-
- Upon selecting this rule, input the additional rate to be charged per additional item in the field "Flat rate for additional items".
- If you choose this option, the system will find the highest shipping rate in a combined order and add an additional flat rate for all other items in the order.
- Example 1: Flat rate per additional item set to $4.00
-
Product Name
Shipping Rate
Product A $15.00 Product B $9.00 Product C $9.00 - Total shipping: $33.00
- Total combined shipping: $23.00
-
- Example 2: Flat rate per additional item set to $4.00
-
Product Name
Shipping Rate
Product A $8.95 Product B $6.95 Product C $7.95 - Total shipping: $23.85
- Total combined shipping: $16.95
- When this rule is applied, the order is combined into a single order and the total shipping cost of the order is recalculated to $8.95 (Highest Shipping rate) + 4.00 (Flat rate for product B) + 4.00 (Flat rate for product C) = $16.95Note: that additional quantities of the same product will be treated as an additional item and hence incur the flat rate unless additional quantities are free shipping.
Rule 3: Charge the highest shipping cost from the list of items ordered and offer a discount on the shipping rate of additional items
-
- Upon selecting this rule, input the percentage discount off per additional item in the field "Percentage discount off per additional item."
- If you choose this option, the system will find the highest shipping rate in a combined order and apply a percentage discount on all the other items.
-
Example 1: Percentage discount off per additional item set to 50%
Product Name
Shipping Rate
Product A $15.00 Product B $10.00 Product C $10.00 - Total shipping: $33.00
- Total combined shipping: $25.00
-
- Example 2 : Percentage discount off per additional item set to 50%.
-
Product Name
Shipping Rate
Product A $8.95 Product B $8.95 Product C $8.95 - Total shipping: $26.85
- Total combined shipping: $17.90
- When this rule is applied, the order is combined into a single order and the total shipping cost of the order is recalculate to $8.95 (Highest Shipping rate) + 4.475 (50 % off product B shipping cost) + 4.475 (50 % off product's shipping cost) = $17.90
Setting up exclusions from combined shipping
- The marketplace portal offers the flexibility to exclude products from being considered for combined shipping.
- Products that weigh above a certain threshold can be excluded from combined shipping by configuring the exclusion in the combined shipping rule.
- Once the combined shipping rule has been activated, you can enable the exclusion by selecting the radio button “Weight” in MyAccount→Shipping Settings→Combined Shipping
- Add the weight threshold for products that need to be excluded from combined shipping.
- The value entered must match your product data weight unit measurement.
- When a product has no weight specified then it will be excluded from combined shipping.
- When a variant product has no weight specified the system will use the weight specified at the product level.
- Excluded products do not form part of a combined order and will be created an individual order so that they can be shipped separately.
- If all products are eligible for combined shipping then choose the option “No Restrictions” .
- All products including products that do have a weight defined are eligible for combined shipping if no restrictions have been set up and combined shipping is enabled.
Combined Shipping Orders
- Combined shipping orders have a unique order group number with each product in the order having an individual order number.
- Example : A customer purchases 3 products from you: Product A and Product B are combined while Product C is excluded because of the weight restriction.
Order Group Number |
Product |
Order Number |
136543320 | Product A | 136546540 |
Product B | 136546550 | |
136543321 | Product C | 136546560 |
Other Important Information

- When using exclusions, ensure that the value entered must match your product data weight measurement unit.
- When a product has no weight specified then it will be excluded from combined shipping.
- When a variant product has no weight specified the system will use the weight specified at the product level.
- Excluded products do not form part of a combined order and will be created an individual order so that they can be shipped separately.
